Autumn Round-Up

Much of the past few months has been split between a hefty teaching load at the university (I foolishly decided to rewrite all the modules…) and trying my very best to plough on with The Music of John Tavener. With regards to the latter, I’m getting there, currently thinking about how to condense The Veil of the Temple into 2000 words! I’ve haven’t composed much, or anything in fact, but performances have continued around the world and I’m looking forward to attending the first performance of What Sudden Blaze of Song in Oxford on the 20 November. The reviews of Phillip Cooke: Organ Music have been amazing, with some of the most lovely comments. And I recently had a chapter on James MacMillan’s symphonies published by CUP. I’m looking forward to composing again in 2027, with some interesting projects already lined up. Anyhow, back to the Tavener…
